Beam Family Summer Road Trip 2013
This summer we were finally able to complete a road trip that we planned 3 years ago. The trip was originally planned for 2011 but my mother in law was diagnosed with breast cancer so we had to postpone the trip until she finished her treatment and felt better. By the grace of GOD she is cancer free now so we decided to hit the road this summer. Completing a long road trip with your family is sort of an American right of passage. Everyone should do at least one with their kids and family …right? It was two weeks that will live on forever in my mind and the mind’s of my kids. I loved it.
Be sure to see the photo tour of the Beam Family summer trip 2013 below.
The main stops on the trip were as follows.
- Parker, CO to Billings, Montana
- Billings onto Butte, MT for an Evel Knievel Day in Butte. The Evel Knieval Day was purely a stroke of luck as we did not plan this.
- Butte, Montana to Kalispell, MT. for a night then to Whitefish Lodge in Whitefish, MT for a few days.
- After spending a few days on Whitefish Lake and inside Glacier National Park for a few days.
- Whitefish to Waterton Lake National Park, Canada.
- Waterton Lakes national Park to Banff, CA.
- Banff to Lake Louise
- Lake Louise to the final destination Jasper, Canada and Jasper National Park.
Breakdown of the summer road trip:
- The trip was 4,788 miles of beautiful country from Parker, CO to Jasper National Park in Canada with many stops along the way.
- We rented a 7 passenger van through Costco and got a great deal from Avis Rental Car. Total cost of the van with unlimited mileage was $1,200 and that included the full damage waiver. Other companies wanted as much as $3,000 for the same van and same timeframe.
- There were six of us on the trip. Grand parents and my family of 4 which includes my two kids ages 8 and 5.
- We did the trip over a two week time period.
I’ve decided to give you a photo tour of the trip instead of a long explanation of each and every stop we made. I believe the photos will tell you the story.
If you are planning a road trip to Canada and have questions feel free to call me or email me and I will give you any information I can. It was a total blast and worth the 3 year wait. I’ve been home one week and Ilm still processing everything I saw and did. Road trips are fun and it’s memories that will last forever.
