Parker Colorado Real Estate Has Four Black Eyes
The downturn in the real estate market has left it scars on our land. Parker Colorado real estate is no exception. I refer to these specific problems as Parker’s 4 black eyes.
When driving into Parker down Parker Road (heading South) you will notice on the left and right that there are 4 very large buildings just sitting vacant. Bert Ford, Bert Jeep,/Chrystler, the old dilapidated King Scoopers Grocery store at Cottonwood and the old Target/Circut City strip mall disaster. My wife calls the old Target location a “deserted concrete nightmare.”
Before we get started let me say that YES I do know that much of the real estate we are talking about is owned by outside landlords and possibly not the company mentioned. I do know that King Scoopers owns or at least did own their dilapidated location and I’m pretty sure Bert did as well.
We hate the way this (the old Target) presents Parker, Colorado to people driving into our fine little town. This is a representation of big box stores at their worst. They come in get their tax breaks for 10-15 years and change their minds on the location and move on for better tax breaks and a better location only to leave the citizens of the Town of Parker with an eye sore to deal with.
My wife’s solution for the Target/Circut City mess is to tear down the buildings and either leave them down or build a newer style shopping area with trees and parking that doesn’t look like an airport tarmac. Seriously, you could easily land a small plane on the old Parker Target parking lot. Maybe a small scale shopping area like the one at Southlands up the road in Aurora . Southlands has a main street running down the middle with parking on both sides and additional parking around back? It would look better and be more inviting to stop and shop.
The same goes for the old King Scoopers store on Cottonwood Drive. It too is a massive lump of concrete with boarded up windows and doors. Total black eye for Parker. King Scoopers should be ashamed of what they have left behind there. Total disgrace to Parker and Parker Real Estate. It’s one of the reasons we don’t like shopping at King Scoopers.
The solution for King Scoopers is simple. Tear it down and be done with it.
The two Bert car dealerships worry me less but that is only because I feel like the town planners of Parker really screwed up here. We are completely stuck with the poor decisions by the Town of Parker Planners and the black eye dealerships! Thanks Town of Parker! What were they thinking? Seriously…allowing two car dealerships to go in right there was a complete brain fart! What are the Parker town planners trying to do make Parker, CO look like Arapahoe Road? Really? There are loads of car dealers on Arapahoe road where they belong. It’s only 5 miles up the road. What made the Town of Parker think we needed dealerships right here?
Now we as citizens of Parker get to enjoy the vacant and boarded up buildings each time we drive by. I would love to hear your personal take on this and any suggestions you may have. Please leave a comment below. It’s easy and we don’t bite.
