4 Fun Weekend Activities at Discovery Park in Parker, CO
If you and your family are planning some time together, there are a lot of weekend activities at Discovery Park waiting for you. It’s a place where the whole family can bond together and learn new things. So, whether you are looking for a peaceful picnic or an action-packed adventure, Discovery Park has it all!
Here’s a list of some of the most popular activities at Discovery Park to do on the weekend.
4 Weekend Activities at Discovery Park in Parker, CO
1. Parker Ice Trail
Bring your kids or the whole family to Discovery Park and spend an hour or two at the Parker Ice Trail. It’s open seven days a week, so getting there on a Saturday or a Sunday is a fun way to spend your weekend.
Take a rest while staying warm at one of the three fire pits located beside the Ice Trail, or drink a hot chocolate instead while watching the other skaters.
2. Watch the Color-Changing Water Fountain
The Discovery Park Play Fountain is a popular summertime attraction for people of all ages. Let your kids run around while you relax under one of the shade trees. You also don’t want to miss the park’s unique light display. The park is open from 10 am to 10 pm every day, with an impressive light show from 5 pm onwards.
However, the Play Fountain is only open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, so you may not be able to enjoy it year-round.
3. Attend A Free Concert
If you are not a Parker resident, or soon will be (we can help you with that if you’re looking for a home!), you may be surprised to learn how many entertaining things there are to do in Parker. Parker Arts hosts free concerts during summer, so be sure to bring your family with you. There’s a big lawn that allows for casual seating, and the park is built with sound and lighting to let you enjoy the moment.
4. Explore the Park
There’s more in Discovery Park that you don’t want to miss. See the life-sized “Ball and Jacks” sculpture that serves as an entrance to Parker’s east end. Just like what the artwork evokes, exploring the park brings you back to when friendships, families, and communities were closer.
There’s also a library nearby, so if you’re a bookworm or want to know what the park has to offer, be sure not to miss it.
The Bottom Line
Parker, CO, is a great place to be when it comes to year-round fun. There’s no better way to spend a weekend than getting some fresh air and witnessing the majesty of Colorado’s landscape firsthand.
Discovery Park is a great place to try out these activities on your own or with family and friends. So grab some snacks, grab a friend, and explore the park.
